Acknowledgements

Site designed and developed by Dom DeBellis. Thanks to Professor Ron Fortune, for introducing me to hypertext theory and greenlighting my senior thesis on a comic book. A shout goes out to Guy Kawasaki, for his personal encouragement and for teaching me how to drive the competition crazy. Props to James Nudd, whose fertile mind planted the Orchard. Nothing but love for Amanda, Scott, Michael, Joseph, and Sara—my increasingly misnamed Fantastic Four. To Eric, my fellow Anglophile and lover of all things mediæval. To Tom Allen, John Havemann, and Jim Brophy—for giving me a chance to do really cool work. And to Michael Cozzi, the only guy I’ve known to extort performance from a microprocessor through sheer intimidation (Thanks for all the chicken sandwiches, Michael). To Mom and Aldo, V and Mike, Nonna, and all my family, I owe my life and so much more. Finally, love and thanks to Dad—You showed me such really interesting stuff, Sparky; God bless you.—D.

Hardware

This site was created on a wicked-cool Apple iMac G5 running OSX on PowerPC (named “Christina”); because there is nothing quite like the right tool.

Christina grabs hold of the Internet using an AT&T broadband connection.

(Christina dreams of one day retiring to sunnier climes, leaving the day-to-day workload to a younger and more capable iMac built around a 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor.)

Software

Content is created, staged, and managed using the Squarespace 4 Advanced content management system (which, I mean, who are we kidding?—It’s the greatest thing since HyperCard). The site is hosted on redundant Peer1 Networks servers in New York City. Text is prepared with Microsoft Word 2004 and graphics are created with Adobe Photoshop CS. Downloadable documents are created using Adobe Acrobat technology. Some content courtesy of Firewire Design and Hemera (used under license).
