Andrew Announces 2-in-1 Token Ring Repeaters

Andrew Corporation announced its new line of Token Ring Repeaters this week. The new line supports various data connector cable interfaces and cable types in a single product. The new dual media token ring repeaters include both RJ45 and IBM data cable interfaces. They support both STP and UTP cabling, giving the user increased flexibility, especially in mixed environments where cabling needs are in transition. The line even includes a model for optical fiber applications.

Digital Phase Lock Loop retimes and regenerates the signal to provide the greatest transmission distances and reliability. Andrew Token Ring Repeaters can put a lot of geography between LAN wiring closets to give users one product that will configure almost any LAN they have in mind. A single repeater can now extend one workstation's lobe to 2,400 feet and up to five repeaters can be used on a single run.

Using Andrew Jitter Doctor™ technology, the TRx™ 9416 repeater significantly improves UTP network performance. Jitter attenuation circuitry prevents lines noise, reduces errors and increases data transfer reliability.

Best of all, the Token Ring Repeaters are compatible with IBM products and Andrew LAN products, such as the Series 8000 Slim Hub, MAUs, and StackLynk systems. An auto-sensing power supply gives repeaters worldwide compatibility. The unit senses incoming voltages between 90 and 260 VAC and adjusts accordingly.
